IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a globally recognized standardized English language test developed by the University of Cambridge.
The exam measures your level of English proficiency and comprehension across all skill levels, making it suitable for both academic and professional purposes. IELTS results are accepted by universities, employers, immigration authorities, and professional organizations worldwide. It is also a mandatory requirement for immigration to Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
There are two types of IELTS exams:
IELTS Academic, used for university admission and professional registration, and
IELTS General, intended for employment and residency purposes.
IELTS can be taken at a test center or online (from home), and consists of four modules, typically completed in the following order:
The first three sections are completed without breaks, while the Speaking test is scheduled within seven days before or after the other sections. The total test duration is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
If you are not satisfied with your result in one skill, it is possible to retake only that section (once within 60 days) through the IELTS One Skill Retake option.
Each skill is scored on a scale from 1 to 9 (Band Score), and the overall result is calculated as the average of all four scores, expressed as the Overall Band Score.
